New immigration measure to support Quebec workers and employers

What changed

On 13 March 2026, the Canadian government announced a temporary plan. This plan lets eligible skilled workers in Quebec extend their work permits for a specific employer. They can extend it for up to 12 months. This gives Quebec time to check if these workers can get permanent residence. This matches Quebec's new policy. This plan keeps skilled workers in Quebec. It helps workers who Quebec has invited to submit a Demande de Sélection Permanente (DSP). A DSP is an application for permanent selection in Quebec.
