UPDATE: Permits extended until November 30, 2026 – CBSA to enhance border integrity and expand telephone reporting in remote border areas
What changed
From 1 December 2026, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) will end the Remote Area Border Crossing (RABC) Programme. Instead, travellers entering Canada through remote areas in northern Ontario and southern Manitoba will use an expanded telephone reporting system. Current RABC permits will be valid until 30 November 2026. This allows time for the change.

Hong Kong's Immigration Department (ImmD) has started offering enrolment for a new automated clearance service called "collaborative inspection". This marks the official launch of a new combined immigration-clearance system being developed for the redeveloped Huanggang Port, which is on the boundary between Hong Kong and Shenzhen. The ImmD announced on 6 October 2026 that eligible Hong Kong residents can enrol immediately using its HK e-Channel mobile application. There will also be other ways to enrol at Huanggang Port.
