AIMA Clarifies Document Requirements for Third-Country National EU Family Member Applications

What changed

Portugal's Agência para a Integração, Migrações e Asilo (AIMA) has issued updated guidance on the documentation required from third-country nationals applying for residence as family members of EU citizens. The new directives specify that marriage certificates must be issued within six months of the appointment date and be duly signed and stamped, or a valid access code provided. For applications involving minors, proof of family relationship, legal representation, and parental responsibilities must be presented, with birth certificates for those aged 16 and over valid for 12 months.
