Portugal's Renewals Portal Updated for EU Nationals and Family Members

The Agência para a Integração, Migrações e Asilo (AIMA) has updated its Renewals Portal in Portugal. This change started on 15 September 2026. This update means European Union (EU) nationals and their family members no longer have to give their Tax Identification Number (NIF) or Social Security Identification Number (NISS). This applies when they apply for Permanent Certificates and Residence Cards online. The update makes the application process simpler. It does this by automatically checking data with the right authorities.
