Spain Extends Temporary Border Controls for Arrivals from Italy

The Spanish Ministry of the Interior has issued Order INT/932/2026, dated 4 September. This order extends temporary border checks at Spain's internal air and sea borders. The checks apply to passenger flights and sea routes coming from Italy. Order INT/846/2026, dated 7 August, first put these checks in place. They will now apply from 12:00 AM on 8 September 2026 until 12:00 AM on 22 September 2026. The extension is because urgent reasons and serious threats to public order and national security still exist. Articles 25 and 26 of the Schengen Borders Code allow for this measure.
