Spain Extends Temporary Reintroduction of Border Controls at Air and Sea Borders with Italy

The temporary reintroduction of border controls at Spanish internal air and sea borders for persons from the Italian Republic is extended under the terms and conditions of Order INT/846/2026, of 7 August. This extension is effective from 00:00 hours on 8 September 2026 until 24:00 hours on 22 September 2026. The measure is subject to continuous evaluation and will cease early if threats disappear or can be addressed by less restrictive measures. The controls will be automatically lifted at the end of the period, and any further prolongation requires a new reasoned decision.
