U.S. to Extend Visa Sanctions Against Palestinian Authority Officials and PLO Members

The United States Department of State has announced it will extend visa sanctions. These sanctions target officials of the Palestinian Authority (PA) and members of the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO). This decision takes effect from 16 September 2026. It is because they have repeatedly failed to keep promises made in US laws. These failures include actions that harm the chances of peace and continuing to pay money to terrorists. The sanctions will stop these individuals from getting US visas. There is an exception for staff who have been reported as working for the PLO Observer Mission to the United Nations.
