From 14 September 2026, applicants can complete and submit MF4 digitally through newtodenmark.dk when applying for residence as accompanying family to a person who has been granted permanent residence on the basis of work or study in Denmark. The principal applicant must either continue to meet the conditions for an extension of the residence permit they held when they obtained permanent residence, or have employment that would qualify them for a residence permit under an applicable work scheme. The digital MF4 also covers extensions for accompanying family members of a person who has obtained permanent residence or Danish citizenship on the basis of work or study. The printable MF4 remains temporarily available, but from 14 October 2026 it becomes mandatory to use the digital MF4. Applications submitted using the printable MF4 after that date will, as a rule, be rejected. From the same date, MF1 and MF2 will no longer be accepted for the relevant accompanying-family applications.
